Meet Sabrina Poulsen - Collectia

Position
Coordinating Legal Assistant

Education
Kommunom, COK Herlev

Employed in Collectia
July 2018

What is your background?

I have an office degree specializing in public administration. When I completed my education, I was employed by Ballerup Municipality, where I was responsible for checking the payment of public benefits and later collecting various arrears. Alongside my work at Ballerup Municipality, I started a postgraduate program at COK in Herlev. Here I studied communication, social theory and psychology. An exciting and at the same time inspiring course that made me more focused on people and the individuals I helped through my work.

In 2018, I decided to seek new paths and made the leap from the public to the private sector. I needed to utilize my skills in a new and different context. Therefore, I applied for a position in Collectia, which I found through online research. I got the job and I can look back on a fantastic time. It is a leap that today I am incredibly happy to have taken.

What are your tasks?

In July 2018, I joined Collectia, where I started as a legal assistant. Initially, I was primarily involved in the inventory and preparation of cases before, during and after processing in the enforcement court. You can see it as a kind of controller role, where I quality assured our cases. At the same time, I was also responsible for conducting the subsequent telephone and physical bailiff court meetings as well as the outgoing bailiff business. Here, I talk to our clients' customers about collateral, their financial situation and the possibility of entering into an installment plan to repay the debt. We try to find a realistic solution that both parties in the case are satisfied with. It is a challenging task to be a mediator in this situation, but at the same time it is a task I still have today and appreciate very much. The moral aspect is a clear driving factor for me. Even though we deal with many bailiff cases and are busy, there is always a human being behind it who deserves respectful treatment. This is something I remind myself of every day.

I am still in the same department I started in. However, I have much more responsibility now. Among other things, I am responsible for coordinating the distribution of resources and work in the department. I'm also responsible for training new employees who start working for us. When my head of department is not present, I have the opportunity to step in.

What is the best thing about your job?

This is the development that I am allowed to undertake. You never sit still and you can feel that we are all passionate about our jobs in our respective areas. There is a good spirit and a great working environment that clearly affects your commitment and drive. At the same time, everyone is listened to if you have a suggestion for changes or improvements. Everyone has a voice and you are taken seriously no matter where you are in the company. This is very valuable to me. If you have suggestions for changes to the systems you work with on a daily basis, they are listened to and implemented quickly. Our IT department is quick to implement our suggestions for improvement.

My colleagues are also an element that makes me thrive in Collectia and love going to work. You can clearly feel that Collectia is a workplace that all employees care about.

Why Collectia?

It has a lot to do with my studies and the subjects I was involved in. I love working with people and I like to be challenged and try to get the best out of a given situation, even if the starting point and the situation can be difficult or very challenging. It gives me something personally that I can help people every day to move forward.
