B2C debt collection

B2C debt collection

The term B2C debt collection refers to debt collection between a company or its lawyer/collection agency and a private individual.

B2C debt collection is also often referred to simply as debt collection, but many companies demand debt collection companies specializing in debt collection where the debtor is a private individual - hence the term B2C debt collection.

Of course, it is legally possible to consider B2C and B2B debt collection under a single term: debt collection. But in fact, there are differences in the way a debtor can be treated - including what fees can be charged to businesses and what fees can be charged to private individuals during the debt collection process.

B2C stands for business-to-consumer.

How does B2C debt collection differ from B2B debt collection?

Many debt collection companies and lawyers see debt collection as a single entity - a structured process to get a customer's unpaid invoices paid using the legal means available.

However, it's not wrong either, because whether your debtor is a private or business customer, debt collection is basically about the same thing: getting unpaid debts paid.

But in fact, there are more nuances and differences when the debtor is a private customer and a business customer, which is why it is also relevant to talk about B2C debt collection and B2B debt collection.

For example, other fees may be charged in the reminder and debt collection process for a business customer that are not allowed for a private customer. The fee is called the compensation fee and amounts to DKK 310.

In addition, commercial and private customers should and must be handled differently in the debt collection process itself. Business customers are professionals, while private individuals are not, and this should be respected as a debt collection company.
