Denmark's (perhaps) greenest debt collection company
Every year, Danish companies emit more than 68 million tons of CO2. This affects the environment, our everyday lives and the life we want to live - now and for many generations to come.
At Collectia, we are very socially conscious in our work - and believe that we as a company should do everything we can to reduce our climate footprint and impact.
Collectia is on a green journey, where over the next several years we will continuously introduce projects and initiatives to reduce our climate footprint even more than we already have.
The project is called "A greener Collectia" - and we are already well underway.
A greener Collectia
At Collectia, we have launched the project "A greener Collectia" - and we want to make the company even greener than today. Because despite the fact that for the past many years we have been aware of our climate footprint - we can still do even more to create perhaps Denmark's greenest IT and debt collection company.
Historically, the debt collection industry has always been a paper, letter and document intensive business - often physically sent to customers in the form of contract documents, letters and correspondence to customers and, not least, documents and judgments to and from the country's enforcement courts.
We have made Collectia paperless, and today we print far fewer letters, documents, agreements and contracts than just a few years ago. In addition to the fact that the transformation in making the company almost 100% paper-free is a great gain for our environmental impact, there is also good economy in it - and thus savings for us and the customers - who at the same time get a more, and better, digital experience with us.
Previously, agreements were sent for physical signature, but today this can be done digitally (e.g. via NemID). Letters, reminders, debt collection notices and documents sent to customers are now handled digitally to a much greater extent - and this has proven to be effective for both us and our customers, who often want to communicate with us online via mobile or computer.
Making Collectia almost 100% paperless plays very well with our goal of creating Denmark's best digital experience with debt collection - for both creditor and debtor.
12.8 tons of Co2 reduced each year
So, has the "Greening Collectia" project reduced our environmental impact? Yes, very much so...
Like most other IT and debt collection companies, Collectia has a naturally high energy consumption, especially for electricity.
As part of the project "A greener Collectia", Collectia has invested in renewable energy in the form of solar cells, which are located on our building - at the headquarters in Brøndby. The solar cells supply energy to all our buildings - and are thus often self-sufficient with climate-neutral power.
The solar cells help reduce our annual CO2 emissions by 12.8 tons - and thus contribute significantly to our overall reduction of our environmental impact as a workplace.
Our photovoltaic system has a PV generator energy of 21,351 kWh and an estimated annual yield of more than 936.44 kWh/kWp.
The future
A greener Collectia has no expiry date, and our new daily routine - making the company 100% paper-free and integrating new energy sources into our buildings - is just the beginning.
We continue to focus on reducing our environmental impact - also in the years to come.
