Invoice follow-up

Invoice follow-up

Invoice follow-up covers a wide range of bookkeeping tasks - from bank reconciliation, follow-up and registration of payment to sending reminders and debt collection.

Invoice follow-up is a function that belongs in the accounting department and is therefore typically performed by a bookkeeper. The bookkeeper is responsible for following up on all invoices sent out - if payment has been received for an invoice, this must be recorded. If payment has not been received, actions must be taken based on this.

These actions could be reminder letters, calls to the debtor or sending out a debt collection notice. This is determined by the internal processes and guidelines for missing payments.

It is therefore up to the company to decide which tasks are included in invoice follow-up, how much the individual bookkeeper should do, and which tasks should be outsourced to, for example, a debt collection company.

Automated invoice follow-up

Fortunately, invoice follow-up is much easier today than it was just 5 or 10 years ago.

Previously, following up invoices was a manual process where the bookkeeper had to log in to online banking to check payments and then manually send out reminders if payment was not received.

Today, many businesses have access to automated features such as automatic bank loading and sending reminder letters.

There are a wide range of systems, add-ons and integrations for the most common accounting programs such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, e-conomic, Dinero, Minuba, Farpay and many more.

These integrations can help with everything from bank reconciliation and reminder letters to debt collection alerts and follow-up.

The integrations are often easy to connect and save the accountant hours of manual work.

Integration for debt collection companies

There are many great integrations and options for automating and digitizing invoice follow-up - from loading bank files to integrations with automatic reconciliation, reminder processes and debt collection processes.

At Collectia, we believe that debt collection should be easy for the creditor, which is why we have developed a number of integrations to the most common accounting programs and ERP systems.

This means no more manually sending reminder letters, imposing reminder fees, sending debt collection alerts and running debt collection processes on your own.

With an integration between Collectia and your accounting program, it's never been easier to follow up on invoices from customers who don't pay - and who therefore need one or more reminders or debt collection.
