Debtor management

Debtor management

Accounts receivable management is a broad term for all the actions that a bookkeeper, accountant or finance manager performs when processing a debtor and their payment.

Accounts receivable management in the classic sense includes booking payments from the debtor and following up if the debtor does not pay on time.

Sending reminders, sending debt collection notices and handing over to collection agencies can therefore also be part of debtor management.

Digital debtor management - the future of debtor management

For many companies, traditional accounts receivable management still consists of the bookkeeper sending an invoice when a product or service is sold.

When the payment is received, the bookkeeper reconciles and posts the payment.

If the debtor doesn't pay on time, the bookkeeper can choose to call the customer, send reminder letters with or without reminder fees, or initiate a collection process.

This is part of classic accounts receivable management.

But the future is digital - also in receivables management. As the company grows, sales increase and the number of customers who need to receive and follow up on invoices grows, so does the need for efficiency.

Today, there are many great ERP and accounting systems that can make accounts receivable management much easier, more efficient and faster than just a few years ago.

There are a wealth of apps, add-ons and integrations for e-conomic, Dinero and Business Central that can help you with everything from automatic reconciliation and bank integration to sending out reminders and automatically starting debt collection.
